Terms of Use

Effective July 25, 2026 · Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA

Purpose

The Campus Alert Archive is provided for educational and research purposes. The content on this site is intended to support academic study, journalism, policy analysis, and public understanding of campus emergency communication systems.

No Warranty

Content is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. While we strive for accuracy, this archive is compiled with AI assistance and may contain errors. We do not guarantee the completeness, reliability, or accuracy of any information presented. Users should verify critical information against the primary sources linked throughout the site.

Not Legal or Safety Advice

Nothing on this site constitutes legal advice, safety recommendations, or a substitute for official campus security reports. For official Clery Act compliance data, consult your institution's Annual Security Report or the U.S. Department of Education Campus Safety and Security database. In an emergency, always follow your institution's official alert instructions.

Accounts and Saved Items

You do not need an account to use this site. An optional, free account adds one feature: a private list of saved cases and alerts with your own notes. You may sign in with a one-time email link or with Google (OAuth). You are responsible for what you write in your notes and must not store unlawful content there. Saved lists carry a fair-use cap on the number of items, and we may suspend or remove accounts that abuse the service. The feature is provided as-is and may change or be retired; you can export your list at any time from the My Saves page, and you can ask us to delete your account through the contact form. How account data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.

Every case and alert message also carries a Report a problem control, which needs no account. Send corrections in good faith: reports are read by a human-supervised AI review and worked through with the weekly update, and we decide what the record says. Reporting something does not guarantee a change, and a report that is checked and declined says so. By sending a report you allow us to use what you tell us to correct and improve the archive, including its published data files. Do not use the control to send abusive content, personal information about other people, or anything unlawful; reports that do may be deleted and the account or browser blocked.

You may optionally give a name to be credited by. Give only a name you are entitled to use, and do not impersonate anyone. Credit is editorial and at our discretion: we may publish the name alongside a correction we act on, decline to publish it, or remove it later, and we will not publish a name we judge to be misleading, offensive, or promotional. Ask through the contact form to have a published credit changed or removed.

Attribution and Reuse

The compilation, metadata, summaries, and annotations in this archive are available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). You are free to share and adapt the data for any purpose, provided you give appropriate credit to the Campus Alert Archive and indicate if changes were made. Verbatim alert and policy texts remain the work of their issuing institutions, are not covered by the CC BY license, and are reproduced under fair use. Ready-made citations (plain text and BibTeX) are on the Dataset page.

DMCA and Content Removal

If you are an authorized representative of an institution and believe that content on this site infringes on your copyright, please submit a request through the contact form with the following information: identification of the copyrighted work, the specific URL of the allegedly infringing content, and your contact information. We will respond to valid requests promptly.

Clery Act emergency notifications and timely warnings are, however, federally mandated public safety communications, and we believe their reproduction for educational and research purposes constitutes fair use.

External Links

This site contains links to external websites (news articles, university pages, government databases). We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of these external sites. The links exist so you can check our sources; some will inevitably go dead over time.
