WSU Police — Timely Warning — Armed Robbery and Carjacking
This Timely Warning is being issued in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.
On Monday, October 8, 2018, at approximately 11:45 p.m., a 23-year-old male WSU student was the victim of an armed robbery and carjacking near the intersection of Cass Avenue and Putnam Street. The student had left the David Adamany Undergraduate Library and was searching for a Lime scooter when he was approached by a male suspect, who put a gun to his side and robbed him of his phone, wallet and some jewelry. The suspect then took the car keys and made the victim drive at gunpoint to a Marathon gas station on Woodward Avenue and a BP gas station, where ATM withdrawal attempts were unsuccessful. After two failed attempts, the student was able to withdraw $200 from an unknown Chase bank branch. The student was eventually released unharmed.
