"verbatimText": "UTC Community:\n\nAs part of the ongoing construction project for the Oak Street Residence Hall, an unmarked gas line was inadvertently struck at approximately 11:25 PM today. The UTC Police Department (UTCPD), UTC Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD), and UTC Facilities Planning and Management (FPM) immediately responded to assess the situation. It was determined that evacuation of nearby buildings was not necessary. However, out of an abundance of caution, individuals in surrounding buildings—including Davenport Hall, Johnson-Obear Apartments, the Metropolitan Building, and the Brenda Lawson Student-Athlete Success Center—were asked to shelter in place until the gas line could be shut off.\n\nChattanooga Gas arrived on site shortly after 12:00 PM to shut off the gas line, after which the shelter-in-place order was lifted. Repair work on the affected line is currently underway.\n\nThank you for your understanding as safety personnel and utility crews worked to resolve the situation quickly and safely.\n\nMessage issued on 11/10/2025 at 12:45 PM",
