      "verbatimText": "Timely Warning Crime Bulletin: Burglary\n\nUC Santa Cruz Police Department\nCase #: 24–856 | Date: 10/12/2024\nTimely Warning Crime Bulletin\nBURGLARY\nThis Timely Warning crime bulletin is being issued in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). The purpose is to provide preventative information to the campus community to aid members from becoming the victim of a similar crime.\nSummary of the Crime/Incident\nUC Santa Cruz police officers recently responded to a late-reported residential burglary on the ground floor of the H block Oakes College Apartments. The burglary occurred sometime between 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11 and 7:30 a.m. today. Police were called this afternoon.\nA female student returned to her apartment today and discovered several items of clothing missing from her locked room. The entry to the room appears to possibly be from a ground floor window.\nSuspect(s) Description\nThere is no suspect description at this time.\nIf you have any information that might be helpful in this investigation, please contact UCPD at 831–459–2231 ext. 1 or provide information through the UCPD Tip Line at 831–459–3847. Your information can be kept confidential.\nThe campus community is encouraged to follow these personal safety tips:\nClose curtains or blinds to prevent thieves from taking inventory of your belongings.\nKeep garage doors closed and locked, and always close and lock your windows and doors when leaving.\nRecord serial numbers to valuable items such as computers, televisions and other electronics.\nBe aware of people walking behind residences along the fence line, and report suspicious vehicles and people to the police.\nDo not keep large sums of money, jewelry, or valuable items in plain view in your room/apartment/home.\nAbove all else, do not jeopardize your safety.\nIf you want further information about UC Santa Cruz Police Department resources, please visit the PD website at https://police.ucsc.edu/.",
