"verbatimText": "UC SAN DIEGO POLICE DEPARTMENT\n\nApril 14, 2025\n\nALL ACADEMICS, STAFF, AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO\n\nTimely Warning – Motor Vehicle Theft\n\nThe UC San Diego Police Department has received a report of a motor vehicle theft of a Ford F-250 flatbed truck with South Dakota license plates. The theft occurred on April 12, 2025, at approximately 5:00PM, at 4245 First Ave, from the UCSD Hillcrest Hospital Employee Parking Garage. During the course of the theft, the suspect crashed the stolen vehicle into a nearby construction fence before fleeing the area in the stolen vehicle.\n\nThe suspect is described as a light-skinned, female adult, approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, thin build, brown or blonde hair, wearing a black T-shirt, black pants and yellow socks.\n\nAt this time, the suspect is not in custody.\n\nThe report is currently under investigation by the San Diego Police Department.\n\nIf you have information that could be helpful in this investigation, please call the San Diego Police Department at (619) 531-2000 or submit an online tip at https://police.ucsd.edu/services/anonymous.html.\n\nThe remainder of this message provides general information about preventing and reporting a motor vehicle theft and is not necessarily related to this incident.\n\nIf you are the victim of a motor vehicle theft:\n\nCall or text the UC San Diego Police Department immediately at 9-1-1 and be prepared to provide the following:\n\nLicense plate number and vehicle year, make, model, and color;\n\nDate, time, and location you last saw your vehicle;\n\nDate and time you discovered your vehicle missing; and\n\nAdvise if you subscribe to a vehicle tracking service, such as Lojack or OnStar.\n\nGeneral safety considerations to prevent a motor vehicle theft:\n\nAlways lock your vehicle, close all windows and sunroof, and take your keys.\n\nNever leave your vehicle running when unattended.\n\nPark in busy, well-lit areas. Pick a parking spot where there is a lot of activity. Auto thieves prefer breaking into cars in isolated areas.\n\nAlarms or anti-theft devices work. Thieves are usually looking for the easiest target. If your car has an alarm or other anti-theft device, it could act as a deterrent but don’t make the common mistake of assuming that because you have an alarm or anti-theft device, thieves won’t break in.\n\nInstall a vehicle tracking and location system that can be activated after the vehicle is reported as stolen.\n\nDon’t leave spare keys in or on your vehicle. An experienced thief knows all the hiding places. Store spare keys elsewhere, such as your wallet or purse.\n\nReport suspicious activity immediately to the UC San Diego Police Department by calling or texting 9-1-1.\n\nWhat is this Notice?\n\nThis notice is being provided to you to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. Timely Warnings are intended to prevent similar crimes and to provide information that will assist community members in protecting themselves.\n\nUniversity of California San Diego, 9500 Gilman Drive, La Jolla, CA, 92093\n\nUniversity of California San Diego, 9500 Gilman Drive | La Jolla, CA 92093 US",
